COURSE DESCRIPTION

This class will read two novels, (to be announced) during the semester. There will be both in class and outside of class reading assignments. After the themes, characters, setting, and plot development are discussed, the students will have the opportunity to write an essay. The students will be guided in how to achieve success in writing both a narrative and comparative essay.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

  4. Learn how to write good sentences
  5. Learn how to write a narrative essay from draft to final
  6. Learn how to write a comparative essay from draft to final

REQUIRED MATERIALS

  1. Notebook/ Pen/ Pencil

NOT REQUIRED

  1. Previous essay writing experience

EXPECTATIONS

  1. For each student to read the complete novels
  2. Attend all classes
  3. Keep trying, don’t give up
